Volkswagen Intranet/Extranet
Challenge
In 2004 pro!vision implemented the Volkswagen procurement portal - the so called „Supplier Cockpit“ - on the basis of (at that time ) CQ4. After a graphical redesign in 2006 pro!vision reimplemented the supplier cockpit on CQ5 in 2010. The
relaunch of www.vwgoup-supply.com took place in November 2011. The new version of the Volkswagen intranet based on CQ5 and Liferay Portal (TM) went productive in May 2012.
One of the most important requirements in the Volkswagen Intranet and Extranet projects was to create a common set of templates - the so called CMS building brick - which can be adapted to project specific requirements of the various Intra- und Extranet platforms within the concern. In this way, an optimal cost-benefit ratio has been achieved and it is possible to roll out further platforms easily.
Solution
The CMS building brick was implemented in CQ5. It is characterized by a deep portal server integration (currently Websphere Portal Server (TM) und Liferay Portal Server (TM)). For this purpose, pro!vision used the CQ Portlet Director. The portlet director has been customized by Adobe specifically for Volkswagen usecases. pro!vision has closely accompanied this process.
A particularity of the "CMS building brick" is fine granularly personalized content. The personalization is achieved by a connection between the CQ access control and the Volkswagen User Management System (UMS). This allows the editor to assign access control rights even down to the level of paragraphs and links.
In all Vokswagen Intranet and Extranet projects there is a strong focus on internationalisation, personalisation scalability and availability.
