As one of the first major CQ5 based projects in Germany/worldwide pro!vision carried out the relaunch of the Volkswagen sales and marketing platform "VWCMS". This was not only a redesign - the project comprised a change of the technological basis and an upgrade to version 5.3 (now: 5.5) of the CMS platform.
A main goal was a change of paradigm in processing product data. Instead of manually editing product data in the virtual showrooms, the approach was to provide a tight integration between product and marketing data and to generate the showrooms in a data driven manner. A further goal was to provide an integrated product and marketing data repository for external applications like the car configurator.
The solution to this challenge was an integrated hierarchically structured "sales product repository" for the Volkswagen marketing information. This repository was implemented in Adobe CRX. It contains all information used on the sales web sites on car models, accessories, pricing and also holds the required digital assets.
The product data is automatically imported from various back end systems. The imported data is enriched with marketing texts, images, videos and legal information by the editors in the marketing department. The virtual showrooms are generated automatically out of this repository.
The aggregated data also forms the basis for multichannel playout. In 2011 pro!vision has developed a corresponding mobile web site based on this product repository (see reference Volkswagen Mobile).
